Newkie on the ledge.
(she has never fallen off this ledge, a mere forty feet above a precipice)
She is
smaller than my smallest pillow
and can become as tiny as a tennis ball inside a shoe when she doesn't want to be found.
But against a setting sun
she offers her best volume
fierce and ready
for the interloper.
I can't help wonder
how each of us
challenges the other
to become bigger
or smaller.
Precious image of Ms. Newkie! I rescued a kitty a few years ago, named him Rocky. He fell from my upstairs loft banister more times than I can count .. and survived.
ReplyDeleteI have a question ... how do you enable the 'reply delete' function on your blog?
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteHelen, if you go to 'Blogger Buzz' on your dashboard, and scroll down a ways, there is information about what to do if 'reply' doesn't automatically appear on your blog.
DeleteGreat shot! I hope she never falls!
ReplyDeleteNewkie is very brave. Does she really believe she has nine lives?
ReplyDeleteHelen, I don't know!
ReplyDeleteLove the 'shot' and love the poem, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm we challenge each other in many ways but we must always challenge ourselves more than others.
